My wife has been the involved in our local “Friends of the Library” for quite some time. (Involved in? Who am I trying to kid — she was president of the board for years!) Anyway - did you know that most local libraries have a yearly sale where they sell those books that they no longer have room for on the shelf? If you’re a reader like me, you should watch for those sales. You can usually pick up shopping bags full of book for next to nothing - I go to 3 or 4 sales a year and for $10 or so I get plenty of reading materials for my times at airports, on planes, or just something to do while I eat alone.

Anyway, my family is populated with read-a-holics. We spend our free time with our noses crammed into books. For me that used to mean mostly technical manuals (and some science fiction) but as I’ve grown older I’ve realized that life is way to short to spend all of it thinking about work. I won’t bore you with most of my choices, but every once in a while I find a good cookbook. Those I’ll try to post right here.

By the way — if you decide to buy one of the books I suggest, please use the link I’ll provide. I’m an Amazon partner - and make a few pennies if you make a purchase through one of my links (gotta pay for the bandwidth!)
