So it’s been weeks since I’ve posted to my blog - I warned you that I might not have the discipline to get out here all that often. I’ve got an excuse though …. there has been a lot going on in the King household.

First things first - it you are going to be in the area this week, it’s Dakota County Fair time again! As always, our girls are heavily involved in 4H. Both girls got all blue ribbons on their projects - with Carrie getting a Reserve Champion and Katie earning 2 State Fair trips!!! Carrie’s champion was for a really cool drawing of her personal super hero. Katie’s two trips were won in Needle Work (she made a set of rag rugs …she’d have to explain exactly what kind,) and - if you can believe this - woodworking. She made a really nice tic-tac-toe board in school with some nicely inlaid detail work. She’ll use the needlework trip - freeing up the woodworking one for another 4H’er.

Katie is once again in the “Arts In” program - a 4H project team that puts on a play at the Dakota County fair, and then again at the State Fair. Your’s truly is once again the official videographer - so I’ll be in the 4H building Thursday night, all day Saturday, and most of the day on Sunday. If you’re around come and sit through one of the performances!

Speaking of the fair - I wold be remiss if I didn’t give a shout out to my buddies at Heavenly Feast Bar-B-Que.

You all know my opinion on the quality of food available here in Farmtucky … er … Farmington. It leaves a *LOT* to be desired. One of those desires is good BBQ. So every year I look forward to the county fair so I can stop to chat up Chris at the Heavenly booth. He does BBQ right - nicely smoked ribs and pulled pork. If you’re at the fair stop by and say hi (tell him I sent you - it won’t do you any good, but maybe I’ll gets an extra rib on my plate when I stop by :)
